Ternus and Apple's CFO Kevan Parekh will discuss the company's earnings results for the third quarter of the 2026 calendar year on the live-streamed conference call. While the call is primarily intended for Apple shareholders and Wall Street analysts, anyone can listen live for free on Apple's Investor Relations website, with no registration required.

The call should last around one hour. Ternus and Parekh will read their prepared remarks, and then they will take questions from analysts.

Apple released the following products in the quarter, which ran from June 28 to September 26:iPhone Duo was announced during the quarter, but pre-orders did not begin until October 16, so the quarter does not include any revenue from that device.

If you miss the call, a recording will be available for replay on the page later in the day.

iOS 27.2.1 should be a minor update that includes bug fixes and/or security patches, including for the iPhone Duo that launched Friday, October 23. We do not know exactly when the update will be released, but usually upcoming iOS versions begin to show up in our logs a few days to a few weeks before they are made available to the public.

There may also be a macOS 27.2.1 update with a fix that prevents macOS command-line tools from accepting eMudhra's compromised web certificates. The certificates have already been blocked in Safari, Mail, and apps that use Apple's networking and security frameworks since October 19, with no software update required for that.

In addition, we expect the first iOS 27.3 developer beta to be released tomorrow.

In a press release on the Apple Newsroom website in China last week, Apple said the iOS 27.3 beta would be released on Wednesday, November 4, but that likely means Tuesday, November 3 in the U.S. due to time zone differences. Apple said iOS 27.3 will be released to the public in December, but it did not provide a specific date.

iOS 27.3 will enable some Apple Intelligence features in China on the iPhone 15 Pro and newer, such as Writing Tools, Genmoji, Clean Up, Notification Summaries, Priority Notifications, Visual Intelligence, and Live Translation with AirPods.

Apple also said it has partnered with Alibaba to add support for its AI assistant Qwen within Siri, Writing Tools, and Visual Intelligence.

Siri AI and other Apple Intelligence features announced at WWDC 2026 will not be available in China on iOS 27.3, according to Apple.

Image Playground will also not be available in China.

Both the iPhone and Siri language will need to be set to English and Chinese (Simplified). Apple Intelligence features will not be available on the Mac, iPad, or other devices in China until Apple receives the necessary approvals, it said.

Below, we've rounded up what's still coming, along with one date in particular that's worth watching if you're a holiday shopper.

  • Apple Intelligence testing in China – November 4: The first Apple Intelligence features for users in China enter testing in the latest iOS developer beta from Wednesday, November 4. Apple has partnered with Alibaba to add Qwen support to Siri, Writing Tools, and Visual Intelligence.

  • Five new products – November 6: Apple is launching five products this Friday: the OLED iPad mini with A20 Pro (from $699), the M6 iMac (from $1,499), the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 (from $1,999), and all-new 14-inch and 16-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌ models with ‌OLED‌ touchscreens (from $2,899 and $3,399). The latter two are Apple's first touchscreen Macs. Pre-orders are already open, but individual delivery dates vary based on region and configuration.

  • Apple HomeView – November 13: Apple's new smart home display arrives on Friday, November 13, priced at $299. Available in tabletop and wall-mounted versions, the hub can be used to answer questions with ‌Siri‌ AI, display pictures, make FaceTime calls, play music, show recipes, offer up calendar events, and more. Pre-orders are already open in launch markets, but HomeView will not initially be sold in the European Union.

  • Apple TV 4K – November 13: The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K launches alongside HomeView, and is also priced at $299. Unlike previous generations, there's just the one model with 128GB storage, and it adds ‌Siri‌ AI and supports four-speaker surround sound with HomePod mini 2 or second-generation HomePod speakers. Pre-orders are already open.

  • Apple Creator Studio updates – November: Updates coming this month bring built-in MotionVFX content to Final Cut Pro, Generate Fill to Pixelmator Pro, and new AI assistants in beta to Logic Pro, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers. The updates are free for existing subscribers.

  • Black Friday – November 27: It's not a product launch, but a date likely worth marking. Apple has held a four-day shopping event over the Black Friday weekend in recent years, when it has typically offered gift cards with eligible purchases. Our Black Friday roundup will be tracking the deals.

  • iOS 27.3 and Apple Intelligence in China – December: Apple has confirmed the public rollout of its first ‌Apple Intelligence‌ features in China for December, alongside iOS 27.3. The initial release is for supported iPhones, with other platforms to follow after the required regulatory approvals.

  • Apple Home Collection – from December: The new Apple-backed, third-party lineup includes smart home cameras, thermostats, and a lock designed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. Apple says that availability begins in December, although select accessories will not arrive until early 2027.

]]> Apple 'HomeView Ultra' With 9-Inch 360º Screen Detailed in New Report https://www.macrumors.com/2026/11/02/homeview-ultra-report/ https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/apple-homeview-ultra-with-9-inch-360º-screen-detailed-in-new-report.2493454/ Mon, 02 Nov 2026 15:08:55 +0000 https://www.macrumors.com/2026/11/02/homeview-ultra-report/ Joe Rossignol HomeView The Information The Information's Aaron Tilley today reported that Apple has been developing a larger, robotic version of the HomeView. This device has been called a "HomeView Ultra" or "HomeView Max" in rumors, but the final name might be different.

Tilley said a prototype of the device is equipped with a 9-inch display on a swiveling arm, with its overall design said to look similar to Apple's old iMac G4 or Pixar's lamp mascot. Like the HomeView, the device would have standard features like FaceTime, but it would also be "fully aware of its environment and act autonomously."

"The current design for the robot envisions it using a camera and sensors to be fully aware of its environment and act autonomously, allowing it to turn on the lights when someone walks into a room—or perhaps even try to tell a cat to get off a table," the report said. "It is meant to be smart enough to avoid accidentally hitting objects around it."

The report said the device's hardware has largely been finalized for around two years, but there have apparently been "internal disagreements" within Apple, particularly in regards to which software features should be available on the first-generation model or postponed until a second-generation model already being discussed.

The report said Apple is hoping to release the larger HomeView in 2027 for around $1,000 in the U.S., but the device might not be ready to launch until 2028.

Apple has also explored other types of robots, such as one that follows a user around the home on wheels, one that flies inside the home, and one that can fold clothes, but it is unclear if any of these devices will ever be released.

Most of these details were already reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who said the 9-inch screen can swivel a full 360 degrees.

On the device's large inner display, users can now see shared content such as the host's desktop and other participants on a call at the same time.

In addition, four Microsoft apps were updated with iPhone Duo optimization today: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote. Microsoft Outlook was already optimized for the device since it launched, but Microsoft Teams has yet to be.

Apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later are fully optimized for iPhone Duo. These apps extend to fill the entire outer and inner displays on the device, with toolbars and tab bars appearing vertically below the status bar.

Apps built with the iOS 26 SDK or earlier run on iPhone Duo, but they appear in the center of the inner display, leaving lots of empty space.

affinity
The release follows last year's desktop app relaunch, which combined the previously separate Affinity Designer, Photo, and Publisher apps into a single app for Mac and Windows. Canva had promised an iPad version in 2026, and says the desktop app has since attracted more than seven million sign-ups.

The iPad app brings sketching, vector graphics, photo editing, and page layout together in one interface. Users can switch between Sketch, Vector, Pixel, and Layout studios while working in the same .af file, which can also be opened on desktop.

Sketch Studio adds freehand drawing with a customizable brush library, while Sketch to Shapes turns hand-drawn forms into editable vector shapes. Photo tools include RAW editing, non-destructive adjustments, and a Mask Tool designed to help trace difficult edges such as hair and fur with Apple Pencil. Elsewhere, layout tools support multi-page documents, master pages, and print-ready output.

Canva says the interface has been designed specifically for iPad rather than scaled down from the desktop app. As for Apple Pencil Pro support, it includes barrel roll, squeeze, and hover, alongside pressure and tilt controls.

The core sketching, vector, photo, and layout tools are free for individuals, but a free Canva account is required to use the app. The only paid-for features are the AI tools, which are locked behind a Canva premium plan – continuing the approach introduced with 2025's desktop relaunch.

The paid features are available through Canva AI Studio and include Generative Expand, image upscaling, noise reduction, and Decompose Layer, which splits a flat image into editable layers.

Despite the shared file format, some desktop features are missing from the iPad version at launch. Affinity's website lists Books, Batch, Data Merge, Quick Adjustments, Info and Scope panels, macro recording, and Astrophotography Studio among the omissions, with more features planned over time.

Affinity by Canva is available on the App Store as a free download with in-app purchases and requires iPadOS 18.0 or later.

(Via Investing.com.)

The USB Evidence Lab tracker covers iPhone availability across more than 30 markets, and puts the iPhone Duo buyer wait time at nearly three months, even after the slight improvement.

By comparison, iPhone 18 Pro wait times averaged around five days, down three days from the previous week, while the Pro Max held steady at roughly 18 days. UBS said reports of cracked screens were unlikely to be the main reason for shorter Duo waits. But on their own, the figures don't tell us whether demand has weakened or supply has improved.

iPhone Duo pre-orders slipped to late January within minutes on the device's October 16 launch, but most people who queued on launch day walked away with a new phone. The reason, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, is that Apple allocated roughly 80% of its initial iPhone Duo inventory to its retail stores, with locations holding as few as 50 units each.

At the time, Apple described demand as "nothing short of extraordinary" and said it was working to satisfy demand "as quickly as possible," so there's a good chance that, even if a delivery estimate for your order is way out in the future, it could improve over time.

iPhone Duo‌ starts at $1,999 for 256GB, with 512GB at $2,199, 1TB at $2,599, and 2TB at $3,199 on Apple's U.S. store.

Display Zoom setting on iPhone 18 Pro (left) vs. iPhone Duo

When you first set up an iPhone Duo (or indeed any iPhone), an option screen called Appearance lets you choose how you would like text and icons to look on the screen. You can choose Default, Medium, or Large.

Usually, you can adjust your initial choice at any time by going into Settings ➝ Appearance and tapping Display Zoom. On the iPhone Duo, however, that option is missing, so you're basically stuck with the setting you chose during setup.

The omission was first noticed last week by a Reddit user. According to MacRumors forum member earthdog, an Apple Support senior advisor told them there is no way to change the appearance setting beyond initial setup and the only solution is to erase the device and set it up again.

MacRumors can confirm that the option remains missing on the iPhone Duo running the latest iOS 27.2 software. We've reached out to Apple about the odd exclusion and will update this article if we hear back.

The strings were found in HomeView Software 27.2 and feature four camera modes, including Off, Detect Activity, Stream, and "Stream & Allow Recording," along with scheduling options for when users are home, away, or asleep.

Notably, pdfu says there's also a HomeView-specific configuration for 1080p/30fps video and microphone input, which the software selects for HomeKit Secure Video sessions.

Other strings suggest that only home members will be able to view streams and recordings. They also indicate that a green light appears and a sound plays when a stream is viewed or recording starts, and users will receive a notification when camera settings change.

The scheduling options include an away mode, but the strings suggest streaming and recording can only be enabled from the HomeView itself while people are home. Expect face recognition and activity zones to be configured in the Home app on iPhone.

Elsewhere, pdfu highlighted a related Home app string suggesting that when the Home app is open on a member's device, the the HomeView may take photos to refresh its camera preview, and these too will be accompanied by a green light.

Apple has not announced a camera feature for HomeView, and the presence of code strings in the device's software doesn't confirm that it will be available to users at launch. HomeView launches on Friday, November 13, starting at $299. Apple's early release of the device's software has already given us a preview of features like wallpapers, revealing other details we didn't previously know.

Presumably, the next iPad Air will get an M5 chip, while the iPad Pro will move to the M6 chip.

As for the entry-level iPad 12, previously rumored features for the device include an A19 chip that enables Apple Intelligence support, an N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, and Apple's power-efficient C1X modem in cellular models.

"This incorrect time appears only on the Always On display when your wrist is down," says Apple. "When you activate the display by tapping it or raising your wrist, the time changes to the correct hour."

To fix the issue, Apple says to switch to another watch face then back again, or to restart your watch. MacRumors previously reported Apple Watch users similarly affected in Europe when clocks went back there the other week. Clocks went back across most of the U.S. on Sunday, November 1.
